At Williams + Hughes we pride ourselves on conducting our business in a way which exhibits honesty, transparency, high ethics and mutual respect. We are also proud to play an active role in the community and we encourage our staff to get involved in pro-bono/voluntary legal work and other charitable causes where we can add value.
One of our core values is our commitment to the community by supporting charitable groups, educational institutions and specific community programmes. This includes doing pro-bono work and making donations as well as presenting seminars to community and educational organisations that will benefit from our knowledge and skills. Organisations we have supported in recent years include the following:
We obtained Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status (ability to issue tax deductible receipts) on a pro bono basis for the Rotary Club of Crawley Charitable Foundation, Swan Animal Haven and the Dogs Refuge Home (WA) Inc., and continue to assist these organisations. We also assisted a Guildford Grammar School scholarship fund, Fight Cystic Fibrosis and Conquer Cystic Fibrosis Inc. to obtain DGR status and/or a charitable collection license on a reduced fee basis. Our inhouse expert on non-profit entities, Chris Osborn, was a member of ATO and Treasury Committees that conducted reviews of the process for obtaining DGR status.
Staff members have sat on the Boards of charities and community service organisations or acted as trustees of charitable foundations.
Please contact us if your charity or non-profit requires legal advice. We cannot offer pro-bono advice to all clients, but will consider reduced or no fees on a case by case basis.
